yeah same here, i was shoked when i watched Perfume's Polyrythm at Kuhako Uta Gessen. Perfume are causing quite a fuss, so i was amused at the fact that they didnt perform live. Dispite the fact they are taking over the Oricon chart, which isnt an easy thing to do in japan. Isnt an artist appreciate more when he/she sing live?. Your post is the only one on the internet that i have read so far that favours that fact. Everyone else is saying "its hard to dance and sing" well..duh~ ofcourse it is. Thats a fact everyone knows of, thats why its called "talent". To sing, amuse ppl, be differnt and become an idol a person who ppl look up to. Who deserves to be respected, prased, and get to number one. Being able to sing live, and dance is probable, but only by TRUE artists..which im sorry to say, Perfume arnt one of'em.

Kekeke, stalked you to your site.

Interesting post. I think it's a good thing to be able to enjoy something for what it is. I think it's wrong to idolize the singer instead of the producer, though. If the end result is what matters, then the producers, instead of the "singers", should have their names on the CDs.

I highly despise idol worship, especially worship for those who play almost no part in the design of the show. I believe the Perfume girls are merely mannequins, and the shows they put on are the work of the choreographers, song writers, fashion designers, stylists, etc. Why praise the mannequins? The planners are the ones who ought to be praised.

Great, great post. I'm pretty surprised that Perfume lip-synched their live shows since I thought they would be well, more talented than that. Now I'm starting to doubt the talent of other artists I like. It's so hard to tell who's truly good nowadays.

But regarding how I appraise artists in general is firstly their inherent ability+talent (if I can tell, lol), second their songs, and third their image, which is probably why I love listening to good amateurs who have little experience in mixing/editing their songs. My appreciation for an artist and their songs kinda drop if I find that they're not as talented or awesome as they are claimed to be. Terrible, but I can't help it.

I find that talent seems to be really lacking in music in all parts of the world, which is a big shame because, what's the point of being regarded as a professional singer if in reality you can sing just as well as the next person, but with lots of help from producers behind the scenes? It's so extremely superficial it hurts.

Anyways, sorry for the "Nobody cares but here's what I think" comment, but keep up the supergood work!

A fine first episode, and mostly well edited EXCEPT

The transition from the opening song to the actual content was rough, and the volume changed too much. Also, your buddy probably needs to work on his radio voice, and you probably want to adjust his levels. I could hardly understand what he was saying. Maybe he needs a better mic. All the content was fine, I thought.

But hey, other than that, I've heard worse first episodes (mine, for instance!)

Well, I suspect that another thing is that anime is super popular now, so these guys may be forcing people to pay for their appearances at these things. Anime fandom was smaller back then. Less chaotic. It was easier for dudes like Matsumoto to just hang with normal fans.

Also, in the case of Anno and Sadamoto--this was before these guys really hit it big. Yeah, they had Nadia under their belt but SHIN SEIKI EVANGELION wasn't made yet.

But yeah, it's mostly what you're talking about. No one cares.
